Clutter drains you and gives you nothing in return

I want more for us moms...

You ever crawl into bed at night just wiped out… but when you stop and think about it, you can’t even explain what drained you so much? Yeah, me too.

And listen, motherhood is tiring. Caring for kids, managing work, life, relationships, it takes real energy. But here’s the difference… all of those things? They give something back. There’s a positive trade-off.
The cuddles, the memories, the paycheck, the connection. They fill you back up, even when it’s hard.

But clutter? Clutter is different.

Clutter is like this sneaky, invisible siphon on your energy constantly emptying your energy reserves in the background. You give it your time, your attention, your mental load… and it never repays you. There’s no joy. No connection. No sweet moment that makes it all worth it.

It just takes.

And most of the time, we don’t even realize it’s the problem. We just think WE are the problem.

I didn’t see it really understand that, until I ditched it all.

Want that for yourself, too? That's literally why the Motherhood Simplified podcast and blog exist.

Check all of these out.

Can Clutter Make You Tired? Absolutely

We know motherhood is exhausting, but what most moms don’t realize is just how much clutter adds to that exhaustion. In this blog, I break down the hidden ways clutter drains your time, energy, and emotional well-being, often without you even noticing.

From the mental load of managing too much stuff to the physical energy spent constantly picking up, clutter quietly steals from you every single day. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Simplifying your home creates space for more peace, more ease, and more time spent on what actually matters.

Work less, play more

Feeling buried under an endless to-do list? You’re not failing, Mama... you’re just managing too much stuff.

In this post, I’m breaking down exactly how clutter adds to your daily workload (and your mental load) as a mom.

Spoiler alert: it’s not your systems, it’s the sheer volume of stuff draining your time and energy. Decluttering isn’t just about a tidier house. It’s the most powerful way to reduce chores, stop feeling behind, and finally create a home that works for you, not against you.

Growing Your Own Food Can Be Simple...

Even though it’s not quite planting time, I can feel the itch—spring is coming, and I am SO excited to get my hands in the dirt again! A few years ago, I never would’ve guessed I’d be this eager to grow my own food. I assumed gardening was complicated, that I needed tons of space, live in the perfect climate, or that you had to be born with some magical green thumb.

But then I actually tried it. And you know what? It’s way easier than I thought.

I love Grow-It-Yourself (GIY)—it takes all the guesswork out of gardening. If you’ve ever wanted to grow food but felt overwhelmed, this program makes it simple. Step-by-step guidance, a super supportive community, and even 1:1 mentorship mean you’re never left figuring it out alone.

And I have to give a huge shoutout to Nicky Schauder—she is amazing. Nicky learned to garden not just for herself, but for her six kids, making sure they had fresh, homegrown food right from their backyard. She turned what seemed impossible into a thriving family garden, and now she teaches others to do the same. I love her heart for helping people grow food, and she breaks it down in such an easy, doable way.

If you’ve been thinking about starting a garden, this is your sign to go for it! Nicky was on the podcast recently and shared some of her best beginner tips—you won’t want to miss it.

If you want help growing your own garden, no matter where you live, definitely learn from Nicky.

Quick Win of the Week

I’ve got a simple but powerful challenge for you today—and I promise it’ll make a difference by the time your head hits the pillow.

Pick one flat surface in your home... your kitchen counter, dining table, bathroom sink, or nightstand. You know the one… the spot that catches everything and makes you sigh every time you walk by.

Your challenge? Clear it completely before bedtime.
Wipe it down. Toss the trash. Rehome the random stuff. Only put back what actually belongs there (and bonus points if that’s nothing at all).

Here’s why this matters:
That one clear surface will change how you feel when you see it tomorrow morning. Instead of waking up to clutter and a mental to-do list, you’ll start your day with a small, visible win—a little pocket of peace that reminds you… you’re in control here.

And sometimes, that’s all we need to feel lighter.
